August 2018 was another year at Ponchatoula High. I was starting my fourth year at PHS. Little did I know, I would soon meet Stephen who was starting his first. Walking into the first faculty meeting of the new year, I immediately caught his eye. He swears he knew I was the one. After a couple weeks, I helped him get settled in, which eventually led to our first date on September 17, 2016. He took me to an LSU football game! Of course, I was a bit nervous, but to my surprise, we had the most incredible time. His friends and family were so welcoming and we never had even one awkward moment. It was perfect. Since that day, we have been inseparable. After nearly two years of dating and memory making, we decided a trip to Disney was just what we needed. I had no idea that Stephen had some magic up his sleeve too! After dinner at Ohana, we got on our cruise ship to find my favorite, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, and we set out into the beautiful sunset. The whole time I didn't realize that ALL of this was planned by Stephen because our travel agent and friend Jeremy was in on the whole thing. Did I mention that it was supposed to be storming but it miraculously cleared up? There was even a rainbow that we knew just had to be a "hello" from Mama Liz. We pulled up to watch the Happily Ever After firework show in front of Cinderella's castle. That was when the magic really unfolded. Upon watching the fireworks and listening to the sounds of Disney, Stephen got on one knee. He said, "We're in Disney and you know you're my princess, but will you be my queen?" It was a perfect proposal and I could not be more excited for the magic that awaits us. -Alex |
