| | We live in an internet age where online dating is now officially, a thing! We didn't meet on a dating site, we met via Facebook way back in 2008. We were online dating before it was cool, yeah, we set the trend. I (Laura) actually found Ad via Facebook when searching for an old school friend and decided to stalk him. Yes people, I made the first move and sent him an email about how cool I thought his profile picture was. Ad, being a gent, responded politily and we started to send Facebook messages back and forth for a good month about everything and anything from Yoda's potato sack outfit to Darth Vader just needing to feel the love. Then, we decided to meet up at my new flat. I'd had just moved to Stoke-on-Trent and Ad offered to come over and cook for me. At this point I had never actually spoken to Ad because he would let me call, but we'd sent enough messages to each other I felt comfortable kinda going with the flow. It helped that I was picking him up from the train station, a pretty busy public place so I wasn't worried about being abducted or anything sinister. Needless to say, I was super nervous, I stalled my car into a bollard while parking (don't worry Dad, it only hit the license plate) and was so nervous I had a case of disco leg every single time I went to change gear on the drive to Sainsburys to pick up ingredients. Ad must have been nervous as well as it took him FOREVER to pick a brand of soy sauce and there was enough nervous laughing between the two of us that Lee Evans would have been proud. Our first 'date' was great, we chatted for hours about everything and it felt like we'd known each other for years. A month later, we made things Facebook official, seriously it was a big deal back then, and from then on we were on the phone almost every night and seeing each other every weekend. The next April, we moved in together and so began our awesome adventures. Here we are, 8 years later, 4 years post engagement, finally getting married! |
